Hand Quilting Class

Notes from Margie:

Join the millions of women, past and present in the craft of Hand Quilting! We'll talk about marking, basting, needles and such, as well as starting and traveling, all while stitching a traditional motif. Come and see how this beautiful hand work can be both calming and exciting. 

Margie will provide a 16" square pre-marked light colored top for each participant.

Supplies you will need to bring:

*16" square batting, preferably a thin cotton batting

*16" square backing (preferably not batik)

*Straight pins

*Regular sewing thread and needle for basting the three layers together.

*14-16" wooden Quilting hoop (not an embroidery hoop) or something like the plastic Quilter's Lap System, (A 14" will work better than a 16" for this project. I use a 14" wooden quilter's hoop for all sizes of quilts. It's inexpensive, versatile, and worth the small investment.)

*Quilting needles, size 10 or 12 (Betweens), (I use 10s, which are a teeny bit bigger than 12s)

*Hand quilting thread in what ever color you like (or already have)

*Thimble (or two, as some like a thimble for both top and bottom hands)

*needle threader (optional)

*Scissors or snips
